FALCON FOOTBALL READY FOR 2009
After a very intense spring and summer, the varsity football team is ready for the upcoming season. Two-a-day practices went extremely well as the guys came into camp with positive attitudes, great work ethic, and a renewed confidence after a very disappointing conclusion to last years' season.
The team will be led by several key returners on both sides of the football. The offensive line will be led by seniors Matthew Barthelmess , Andrew Schram (Co-Captain), and Gene Fogh (Co-Captain). The backfield will see various individuals including returning starter James Aarhus, Scott Goodrich, and Nick Ammivisca (Co-Captain). Joining this trio will be new transfer student Tyler Randall. Tyler brings a grit and toughness which meshes will with the style of bruising offensive attack we are accustomed to. At the helm this year will be Greg Goodenough. Greg has a very good command and knowledge of the offense but will be pushed by Alec Gregorich, and Kevin Anderson. The speedy wide corp will be led by senior Chandler Thorn, a two star athlete in both soccer and football. Joining him are seniors Xavi Diaz, and Ty Smith. Thorn will also handle the kicking duties as well.
The defense will see a lot of new faces this year but are just as capable and explosive as any defense we have had in the past. The defensive will be see a continous rotation of players as this maybe are deepest line ever. Look for Tim Blanch, Gene Fogh, Jacob Phan, Marshall Grundy, and Andrew Schram to all be impact players on the line. The linebacking core will see Randall, Aarhus, Goodenough, and Trevor Curtis spear heading the defensive attack joined by Goodrich, Thorn, Amavisca, and Darius Javan in a potent secondary.
The falcons kick off the season against Anderson Valley September 11, 2009 at 7:00 PM.
